If you feel that you've applied too much, or that the color is a little deep for you, soften the effect by dusting your powder over top.   Remember, "Less is More", and Blend, Blend, Blend !
When finished, always check your look from the side. Then, you will most likely want to blend again and possibly, dust over once more with your powder.
